Default turbo noise

now im not the best technical kind of person. but when car is coming on boost there is a distinct whirring/whining coming from engine bay, im guessing its the turbo. i had a thought it may be the turbo bearings. the noise is not overpowering but it wasnt there before i had engine rebuild. the car is not any slower and still runs and drives as it should

maybe the noise is normal, just wanted anyones advice and/or thoughts.

cheers in advance

Has the car also been decatted recently?

It is normal for the turbo to be audible. Decating makes it more noticable as does induction kits or removing the induction silencer.

If your still making target boost and there isnt loads of black smoke out of the back then im sure its fine.

Is it running standard td04 turbo still?? My RB5 turbo whistled a little more when i fitted a downpipe and decat but it didnt whine at all....i now have an 18g turbo and it still doesnt whine so i dont know mate!!

Some of the vf turbos can be quite whiney though but its normal for them!!

Id check it not the power steering pump, mine went and it was a very whiney noise which got louder when the car was rved....id check that out if I were you

check pipes and exhaust for blowing as it increases turbo noise if leaking
