make sure you have over 1/2 a tank or fit an anti-surge arrangement in the tank

when you corner hard right all the patrol will be thrown the the left of the car away from the pump, so if your tank is low there will be no petrol picked up thru the pump.

when my car is low on petrol and i gun it all the petrol gets thrown to the back of the tank and my car just cuts out due to the pump getting on petrol, i'd of thought all scoobys had the same problems

Swirl pot is the only real solution to this.

My solutions is as follows:
Walbro intank lift pump to Swirl pot.
Swirl Pot to External Bosch 044 to fuel rail via fuel filter.
From rails to SX fuel pressure Reg
from SX reg to swirl pot
swirl pot back to tank

A setup like this will always mean the swirl pot is full any over flow in the swirl pot is sent back to the tank.

Cheers
