it can be remapped using EcuTek.. the demand for remapping of them is limited at the moment so not many tuners have bought the software yet.

Was discussing this with Paul at Zen the other day and he has bought the software

Cant see any reason why the results would be any worse than an 06 or 07 2.5 remapped if not slightly better with the dual avcs.

I have sent a mail to Paul at Zen because it would seem he is the only one with the software for the new wrx so am still waiting.

I also need to know if the gearbox and engine is stronger than the privious models too

Was that the one for there gt spec car ?? I thought that was based on a sti ??

Maybe im wrong.

I was looking for a nice usable 400 ish from the 2.5 maybe having to change the bottom end to sti spec but its the gearbox i was worried about.

Are they a stronger unit than in the older cars or are they the same

Might have to wait a yr and get a second hand sti, but thought the wrx may have been an improvement on the last one

You will spend a fortune to get a WRX up to STi level just sell the WRX and buy an STi - the differences are more than just three letters and a remap.

I dont want sti power i just want a usable 350 + bhp thats all, Perrin in the usa had one running some nice power but it does not say anything about uprated gearbox etc.

As for price a full decat, turbo, inj, induction and a remap is not major money nowadays.

The question is will the gearbox take it unlike the past models which go pop at 350 ish

06 wrx gearbox is good 4 350+ as they improved it to take the 2.5 so the new car will have no prob with 350.

400 is another issue

Are you sure about that?

What changes were made to the 06 wrx 5 speed from the bugeye 5 speed?

TBH i dont think the new box is any different from the old which is why i am asking, too many new age boxes pop at 350 torg and then need a ppg set or sti 6 speed set up.

Although the new wrx as standard has more torg than the older model its nowhere near 350 !!!!

One of our members who has a wrx just had 6k of work done by Zen and on its first outing went pop at 356 torg !!!!!! They can run it but its borderline as to if it will survive.

there's your answer then.

sell the wrx and buy an STi or stick to below the recognised limit of the 5 speed box.

or dont get greedy

Well I suppose it going to depend on how you use the car I don’t plan on tracking or taking it to a drag strip so think I will risk pushing it to 350/350 one guys running 380/380 with few issues so it not a given that it will fail

I thnik he should do what ever he likes with his WRX, At the end of the day if he is happy with his car anbd want to modd it let him be.

Would any of you still dissagree if someone had a turbo2000 and wanted to get 300bhp out of it? but modding it.

When the JDm are 279bhp or close anyway out of factorie?
