The technical term is wedges, never removed them though, think they just clip in.

flat blade screwdriver, insert into small recess in the wedges, pop out.
Then rub off the paint or just key and then spraypaint to the colour of your choice and put a lacquer over the top

By the way, they were designed for venting air onto the brakes, but since the arch lining covers the route, they are purely for show

I sprayed mine black first time around and then silver now.
I also have a cold air feed coming into one side of them. Dosent do much but helps a tad.

My car only has one of these 'wedges' on the drivers side - does anyone have a spare one laying around for the passengers side?

I searched for a couple of months for one and in the end I got mine from 'Grade A Subaru' for £5.00. They had loads of them.

I thought about doing this myself but there doesn't appear to be a clear route for any cold air feed/piping.

hmm, i always thought they were just for show, do the RA models have the arch liners fitted?
mine are gone regardless, might remove the wedges lol ran without them for about 2 years

Whether they are just for show now is debatable as they seem to just fill a gap
, but you can see how they would have fed some air/cooling onto the brakes.

The best cold air feeds are the ones that have a direct route for less turbulence. Mine is routed from the wedge (cable tie) up the inside of the wing and appears next to the pipe from the FMIC. So not direct but it seems to work.

Thanks for that - I could never find out what they were called to do a proper search.
