Default GETTING PI**ED OFF NOW!

i need this car up and running and mot'd in less than a week as our run around car failed its mot and not worth paying the bill.

the only problem the car has is when i put the foot down hard the car just looses all power as if i was to stomp on the brakes for a second.

when i connect the two black connectors it reads fault codes 13,24,44 & 45

but if i connect just green i get 24 & 44.

when i try to reset the ecu i plug all four in and still codes 24 & 44

i cant get the ecu to reset as i've been advised to do that first then read the codes again, so i've pulled the battery out as i cant keep driving it around with no mot tryin to reset the ecu.

will these faults be making the ecu retard the timing causing the car not to drive in the boost?

i really need help as was hoping to get it solved this weekend

its a 1993 wrx ra import btw

is this the camshaft sensor fault code 13?

is this the item responsible for fault code 24?

is this the turbo wastegate solenoid and pressure sensor for fault code 44 &45?

ok now that i have reconnected my battery i'm only gettin fault code 24 & 44 when i join the black connectors so i guess that is the only faults i have?

if so do i just replace the parts or is there away to test the sensor or test the wiring?

ok guys bit of an update, when i accelerate fully the car looses all power at 0.5 bar of boost. feels like i hit the brakes hard when it looses the power. i changed the wastegate solenoid and idle control solenoid valve and it made no difference.

was then told that it could be the maf or spark plugs. so i changed them and took it for a spin, now the car has stopped killing its power at 0.5bar of boost.

but now the car is just lacking power all the time. so i swapped the turbo over with one from my other car as the turbo is abit shady.

but after i swapped the turbo the car still lacked power.

when i put the foot hard down to the floor it takes a good 2-3 seconds before you get a kick but even the kick aint that much of a kick. and the car seems to only be hitting 0.5 bar of boost?

anyone got any ideas?
coil packs?
wrong sparks fitted?

I had the same syptoms as you, if i drove like a granny the car was fine but put my foot down over 2500 revs it was pulling back.
Had fault code 44, i cleaned the boost solenoid (which had no effect) and then found that when i opened the connector for it which has two wires attached (i assume they are for the power) the terminals inside were really dirty.
took the wires out and sanded the terminals the fault code desapeared and now the car doesnt pull back and idles properly
i hope this helps

Think he means the connector on the loom, not the idle valve itself

not going over 0.5bar sounds like it is in safe mode to me.

sounds like you have a vaccum leak.. check the small diameter pipes for splits of not connected etc

if the check engine light is still on would that cause the car to run in safe mode and restrict the power?

what vaccum pipes would i need to look at? just the turbo ones or them all?

the car has 2 boost gauges which i find weird would i be best to unpipe them both from under the bonnet?

all the pipes..

depends on the seriousness of the error code.. for the error you have it may do.

another update, i done a compression test on the car all cylinders when i cranked the engine went upto 8 then 10 then 12 psi (think its measured in psi?) take it compression is fine as they are all reading the same?

i then swapped the ecu out of my other 95 wrx import into this 93 wrx ra import, and the car seemed to pull alot better but idle was rough, are these ecu's the same as the have different codes? here is a pic of them

my decat downpipe also seems to be sittin hard up againt my gearbox subframe cradle thing? i took the whole exhaust system off my 95 wrx and cant remember it sitting againt the frame causing it to vibrate badly thru the car.

other problem i seem to have is the gearbox, when i come near the end of the rev range and dump the clutch it seems to pop out of gear a bit and when i change gear it feels rough going into gear, is this a fcuked gearbox or could it be the a sticky clutch hydraulic ram? i notice it seems to take a second or two for the piston to push back out after the clutch pedal has been depressed. that normal?

think thats all for now lol

The u8 ecu is 240 ps
the z4 is 260 ps

both will run fine in your car.

Measurements of power mate, very similar to BHP, 240PS is about 235BHP etc..

Have you tried swapping the MAP sensor?
It's the black plastic piece on the left side of this picture:-

I know this may be totally irrelevant but if it helps:

Your problem has never occurred on my Scooby but I've frequently come across it on other cars many a time that I service and your symptoms are exactly the same as the camshaft sensor failing on these other cars.

As you have ruled out the map sensor/boost solenoid by swapping in other units then I would go for the cam sensor.

compression measurements sound like Bar as 10~12psi is very low

ps is a measurement of power 1 ps - 0.98bhp

the electronic board you refer to is the ignitor.

are all the earth straps on the car in good condition?
