Default Limescale with tap water for IC

Hey there,

Anyone had some bright ideas on how to stop limescale on IC tanks and pipework without using expensive dist water, with cost of living petrol is bad enough without having to pay to fill the sprayer lol.

Need something that wont damage paintwork and ideally dont smell.

I had 3 gallon fuel tank with foam inside, used that for couple of years now its completely blocked with limescale, its like rock.

Pat give me a tip, which should work a treat to clear up the limescale and that is too use some mix a bit of vinegar in there

Heard that was old wives tale for limescale, doesn't mark paint though? Cheers for that...

You could try rainwater, depending on how you collect it you may have to run it through a coffee filter or some such to remove particles.

Deionised water - £2 a gallon.

Or convert your car to use an aquamist system, which sprays water internally, therfore much better at cooling charge, less wasteful and also decokes your combustion chambers. Can also be used to inject methanol too. (will need setting up so that it doesn't upset the engine running though)

put tap water through a filter (a brita or equivelant) then boil it in a limescale free kettle then once cooled sorted

you can get something that looks like a ball of wire wool that stops limescale forming,they only cost a couple of quid and last ages.

places like currys sell it to stick in your kettle,got one in mine works a treat and water round here is hard as ****.

What about RO water(cheap from aquarium places) or defrost the freezer on a regular basis, just save the defrosted water.

ADSA / TESCOS etc sell bottled drinking water (not mineral water)... that's what I use for the fishtank not sure about the limescale though ... fish don't complain!
