Preferred Petrol - 2008 WRX GB270 PPP
Hi there,
I have just purchased a 2008 GB270 (Blue Saloon) subsequest to having a 2006 WRX Type UK.The Type UK ran perfectly well on standard unleaded petrol (95), however I was advised by the dealer at the time of purchase that I need to run the GB270 on super unleaded petrol (97). Because of the performance upgrade I can understand why they have advised this.
Can anyone tell me if this is actually the case or can I run the GB270 on normal unleaded without affecting performance etc.
I look forward ot your responce.
Rich.

Rich, you can use 95 but on these hot days it will detect knock and retard the timing. Sometimes you can feel the power turn down. It then takes the ecu time to "learn" everything is ok and start to bring the power on. It's not dangerous but frustrating. Use Shell V Power (98) if you can or Tesco 99. I bought BP Ultimate 102 in Edinburgh and discovered it was £2,42 - yup - that's no typo, ha ha. I dunno which hurt more - my wallet or the chewing out my wife gave me. I bought some NF Octane Booster as a "safety" because in some remote places, like up inside the Arctic Circle in Scotland, you can't get better than 95.
