Annoying vibration / rattle on acceleration
morning all, ive had an annoying rattling noise coming from the front / drivers side ( or so it seems ) of my 99 classic turbo for a few weeks now and i wanna get to the bottom of it. You cant hear it on tickover - only when you apply some throttle and mostly in lower gears.
What could it be, and where is it worth looking on the car? I know people mention that the classics can have trouble with exhaust heat shields but where exactly are these on the motor? any pics of the offending item?
Any suggestions or advice welcome
Thanks
Adam

I have the same problem, i think its the heat sheilds that cover the headers if u jack up the front and have a look u will see them and should be ble to tighten up the heat sheilds (still need to do this myself but keep gettin distracted lol)

hodgy0_2 - thats a good description of what mine sounds like mate - a short, sharp rattle at low speeds. Think its likely weve both got the same problem mate.
This header shield that could be loose - can it only be got at from underneath? And has anyone got any pictures of what it looks like?
Cheers

Morning all, tried to have a look under the car this weekend ( my mates ramps wouldnt work as my front bumper was catching! ) but couldnt see anything obviously loose.
Do i need to remove the plastic undertray completely before i can gain any access to the possibly loose heat shield? Its a bit hard looking for something that may be loose when you dont know what it is your looking for!!
Thanks

when trying to explain the noise to myself, on a long drive (i should get out more)
a pretty good description i came up with was the noise the Predator makes in the film of the same name
to be honest as long as its the heatsheild and not pinking i,m not too bothered
ps my MY99 wagon does not have a plastic under tray -- should it?
