Spoiler Swop
Evening all.
Would somebody mind offering some advice to a newbie please?
I have just acquired my 2nd Scoob (05 STi) and I would like to swap the high level spoiler for a low level WRX item as per the Spec D machines. As some of you will already know the original spoiler appears to be securely stuck to the bootlid.
Before I polish up my hammer and chisel can anybody offer the benefit of their experience in completing this job without wrecking the bootlid?

I would advise picking up a WRX bootlid with spoiler attached and swapping it over, as there are a lot of holes that will need filling and the boot will require painting, it would be cheaper to do this, also if you have room I would keep the original as without it you may put off potential buyers in the future,

Not sure about your wee problem but maybe a hairdrier underneath the bootlid to soften the mastic. If thats what its held on with??
I have a low level spoiler on an 03 WRX, could be interested in a swap and some cash your way. Let me know.

sure someone will want to swap, bet bet is just swap the bootlid, no need to have an issues with duff apintwork, the lock will need switching over and also the cable will need sorting, but its not too dificult, if needs be sure a specialist can switch them for you for a price

I have the standard bugeye with low level spoiler - and it is basically held on with four nuts screwed on the underside of the boot lid - with a mounting pad to go between underside of spoiler and upper surface of bootlid to provide a non-tension cushioning layer to prevent vibration and/or rattling. As to swapping over of any of the standard Subaru high, low or Prodrive spolers, I would also have thought the bootlid is common to all with the four round holes in the same position as standard, because you can order various spoilers as interchangeable options for either WRX or STi models.
full details of boot spoiler removal and fitting back on, download the full workshop manuals from the website below
Manuals
- warning - it takes about 30 minutes to download the zippped file which you can save in your documents file - the folder suite of pdf files each contain tons of pages covering everything - including the section 'body' which includes a pictorial exploded view of spoiler, parts and instruction (undoing the nuts without losing them inside the skin of the bootlid needs to be carefully done)

Scooby bootlid spoiler
Thanks guys.
My main concern is that I don't damage the boot lid unnecessarily.
Meallbhan the spoiler is not something I want to exchange, as Daz pointed out, it could be seen as a demerit when the time comes to part company with the car. Thanks for the offer anyway. I should have said that I already have a WRX spoiler, but couldn't see a way of removing the high level spoiler without a risk of damage to the car or even me!
I will give the hair dryer trick a try out and if that fails then I'll see if I can find a spare boot lid somewhere.
One more question if I may, is the 05 boot lid compatible with any other previous model? i.e. would an 02 lid fit an 05?

The WRX spoiler requires just 7 holes. 4x for the fixing bolts, 2x plastic securing clips and one for the brake-light wire to pass through. The STi spoiler has many more holes, about 14 IIRC, so if you don't acquire an STi boot-lid you're gonna have some filling and painting to do.
Also, the WRX spoiler is significantly lighter than the STi wing, and the springs which damp the rise/fall are very different. When I swapped bootlids to get an STi spoiler the WRX springs offered no assistance raising the lid, and no resistance lowering it. Conversely, my mates STi which acquired my WRX lid to allow him to fit a carbon wing and if he used the remote release the lid tried to flip through the rear screen.
