Default Oil - engine, gearbox, diff

Hello

after reading lots of comflicting opinions on oils for a standard '03 WRX, I'd just like to make sure I'm putting the right stuff in before I set about changing all car's oil this weekend.

So far I have:
Engine - Castrol Edge 5W/30, sump volume required = 4.5l

Gearbox - Castrol Syntrax 75W/90, gearbox volume required = 4.2l

Diff - Castrol Diff EPX 80W/90, Diff volume required = just over 1l

If anyone can furnish me with the torque settings of the engine sump, gearbox and diff drain and ill plugs that would be usefull also.

Ive also got fresh engine sump and gearbox drain washers, but been told the diff plugs are tapered so don't need gaskets, is this the case?

Cheers and thanks for any help given!!!

You don't need torque settings, just tighten them up as normal. Saying that i've been spannering for 25 years if your unsure how tight they should be get it done by someone who knows what they are doing. Diff plugs are tapered if I remember right.

I overfill the gearbox by a 10mm or so on the dipstick just to help protect 3rd gear (think it's 3rd)

Cheers scooblube

Prefer to use the proper torque settings if anyone has them. They exist for a reason.

Andy,

Engine Drain Plug = 33 Lbft (44 Nm)

Rear Diff Drain & Level Plugs = 36 Lbft (49 Nm)

Gearbox Drain Plug = 50 Lbft (69 Nm)

Your engine oil grade & quantity's are Good

Gearbox - Castrol Syntrax 75W/90, gearbox volume required = 3.5L on a drain & refil.

Rear Diff Oil is the same as the gearbox (unless you have a mechanical limited slip diff fitted) = 0.9 L
