Default tunning advice

Hello all after some advice on tunning. I got an 04 wrx and got a couple of quid to spend on it what would everyone recommend. Not gonna do it all at once but want to buy some tidy gear so wont have to replace it in the future. All ready got a forge dump valve, pipercross indution kit and magnex stainless exhaust from cat back 3" pipe. What else can i do to get my bhp up and my fuel bills to rocket. Some names of parts and prices (roughly) would be a big help

400 bhp will cost you a lot more than 2 grand.

this is just off the top of my head...

in no particular order..
injectors,
Turbo,
Clutch,
FPR,
Fuel pump,
Remap,
Intake,
sports cat or decat,
headers,

and possibly,
Gearbox,
Brakes,
Suspension,
Engine upgrade (pistons, rods etc)

and there will be more.

To get a reliable 400bhp with 'all' the necessary items for a powerful and safe car, then budget for £10,000.00 minimum.

What is acheiveable given his budget, then?

I'm guessing his car is standard, like mine.

I would prefer to leave the engine alone and just concentrate on braking and handling. My budget is the same.

Al99 has covered pretty much everything. An uprated gearbox that will last longer than five minutes will set you back £2000 for a 6 speed or £3000 for a ppg kit, before fitting. A turbo that will make a genuine 400bhp will cost £1200. See how the bills start racking up. Then you have got brakes, suspension, clutch, exhaust etc etc.

I dont doubt you could do it for less, if you buy second hand parts and fit it yourself.

Id go full decat exhaust , TD05-16g Turbo , Walbro fuel pump and Ecutek map.

Id also use a fuel pressure regulator or even better fit a set of STi pink injectors. I reckon that would make a nice car and not very expensive really.

neil: click on "view my scooby" next to this post. Made 353 bhp / 354lbft.

If I was doing things again, I'd:

* get a hybrid td04 turbo off andy forrest
* decat up-pipe
* ppp sports cat
* decat centre
* panel filter
* fuel pressure regulator
* fuel pump
* any 2.5" backbox (i personally like the ppp one)
* remap

That should hopefully break the 300bhp barrier, not be massively expensive and have oodles of low down torque.

The Hybrid TD04 is a good bit smaller then the 18g and should get you to 300bhp or just under. With an 18g turbo your wrx gearbox may not last as long as you would like but then again there are plenty doing it but to be safe id keep it at around 310 - 320 Which would be a 16g at sensible boost. The newage STI intercooler is more efficient then the others but for 300 ish bhp your own one should be fine IMO.
