Default Downpipe Lambda sensor?

Should my MY93 WRX have a lambda in the downpipe just after the turbo? Just bought a decat downpipe and there is a hole for one, and also I believe the wiring is there from the loom on top of the gearbox?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

It should be in the o/s exhaust manifold but you can relocate it to the downpipe if you wish.

Ah thanks for that, it has one in the manifold still, I just got a bit curious/concerned as to why there was a bung in the downpipe.

Is there any advantages of relocating it to the downpipe?

I may be wrong but I think the early cars such as yours have a 'cat on fire sensor' aswell as a lambda sensor. Check the size of the boss to confirm you have the right downpipe.

I've heard that it runs cooler in the downpipe so the sensor lasts longer.
