Question Sandwich plate for oil filter

I’m about to install my oil pressure and oil temperature gauges, and have bought a sandwich plate to sit between the block and the oil filter to accept the two sensors.

However…one of the guys here at work reckons that using a sandwich plate on a classic Impreza is not a good idea as it will put the oil filter closer to the road and increase the chances of it fouling on sleeping policemen and/or ramps.

To be honest, I’d never considered this, and as I haven’t actually got underneath the car yet, can’t say if it this true or not.

What does everyone reckon? Am I going to be okay with the sandwich plate?

The pressure sendor unit is a better option which plumbs into the pressure sensor below the alternator. The sandwich plate will be fine though providing its fitted correctly. Just dont do a smokey and the bandit over the bumps you'll be fine.

Nice one - thanks for your help. I'll get under the car tomorrow to see what the clearance is like.

It’s not just the clearance (probably not a problem but it becomes a big problem if something does hit it) there is an ideal place in the centre of the engine for the temp you will get a much better reading from there. I have just fitted mine above the #3 cylinder and it’s a fairly easy job, remove the inter cooler and you can see what you are doing small fingers also help
