Default REAR DRUMS TO DISCS

Hi guys,

I own a 2007 impreza 1.6, and I need to know, what does it take to replace the rear brakes drums with discs and calipers, what exactly need to be changed, and how much does it cost?

You do know that it will make very little improvement on the braking ability of the car dont you?
But if you want to do it, you need to replace the entire rear axle, then find a compatable axle to the gearbox and fit that, plus some other costs, its just easier to upgrade the front brakes with different discs and pads tbh.

Thanks a lot for your repy Tony. Actualy no, I did not know that the improvement would be so little. I want better brake force, and if that can be achieved by upgrading the front brakes will then ok. What do I need to do? Do you have any suggestions? Thank you.

I did this, well not me personally, changed the rear drums on my Impreza Sport (non-Turbo) to discs and it has made a really improvement. All that was needed was rear calipers, backing plate thing, brake shoes, hubs, basically a complete rear brake set-up of a classic. I did not need to change the rear axle at all.

I am not sure what the differences are on a 2007 1.6 to a 2000 Sport, so don't can't really help with that.

Instead of converting the rear to discs, why now upgrade and improve the front set-up with better calipers, brake pads, S/S brake lines and 5.1 brake fluid. I did this first on mine and it was a great improvement the the standard OEM set-up. Although it was not quite enough for me, so I have to convert the rear.
