Default Intercoolers?

I was told to get a bigger intercooler for my scoob
being that ive had the down pipe changed and the centre section changed to de catted, that if i got a different intercooler that i would be able to run more boost when i have another remap done
managed to track down a p1 intercooler that i picked up tonight.
got back home with it,poped my bonnet (as i collected it in my other halfs car)
to find that its the same size as the one that is already on my car?
i have a classic my00 that is completly standard
the only obvious difference i can see in the two is that the one thats on my car is black, and the p1 one is silver and has an sti sticker on it?
is their a difference? and am i going to get any benifits if i am to change it?

GREAT!!!
So how comes if you look on ebay that a standard intercooler goes for about £10, and a p1 one goes from anything from £60-£100??

people thinking P1 must be bigger, better, faster, more
ive seen several face lift classics like yours and mine running up to 340/bhp on standard black intercoolers

what u pay? sell it back on

The core is probably better and it has alu end caps not plastic so will be more efficient.

Buy an ACT gauge for approx £50 and measure the temps now.. then swap to the P1 item and measure the temps then. Thats the only way you'll know if its making a difference.

The P1 TMIC is different to the MY99/00 UK one.

Different end tanks and pipework iirc.

What sort of power do you want to run?

on the later classics they use alot of parts that they use on the p1
i know the earlier classics got a smaller intercooler

the one on the right is off my00 uk and the one on the left is off an earlier classic
