Forge BOV problem - hissing
Hi
My car developed a small hitch over the weekend L
Thing is I have a (loud) hissing noise coming from the blow of valve all the time even when idling and it is only ‘tishing’ at very high rpm, and car feels like more sluggish and less responsive… before it never used to make this hissing sound, only a healthy tish could be heard and not only at very high rpms, even when i change gear at around 4.5-5k, now it is not doing this anymore ….. sorry for not being very technical J
I suspect a damaged bov …. Mine is a Forge Motorsport BOV – will try to inspect tomorrow.
are there any particular things i should inspect when taking apart the BOV so that i will know for sure that this is at fault?
What do you think from the symptoms I described? Does it sound like a damaged diaphragm to you as well please?
my car is:
1999 Type R STI
Standard engine and turbo
Front Mounted Intercooler
Full exhaust system including unequal length manifolds
Autronic ECU
thanks

sounds like your DV might be fooked mate
I had the same trouble with the baileys I used to have on, it was sticking open so I was loosing boost pressure there for power
sent it back to baileys and was told that a bit of grit had got in and scored the piston bad style and was causing the piston to stick open
they said it was fubared and sent me a new one free of charge, great guys and service
