Default Car jerking

My friend has a 1995 WRX and when he puts his foot down it jerks alot and there seems to be a lack of power but is alright if he slowly builds up the speed he has no modifications, any ideas at what to look at first?

Cheers.

Mine did the same thing...

Check the air filter - My car didn't have one!!! Previous owner obviously missed that when putting back to standard.

Check for split piping.

Clean boost solenoid with brake cleaner, and all connecting pipework.

Mine was sorted after fitting the air filter and cleaning the solenoid (although in fairness I don't know which fixed the issue as I did both at the same time!).

my cars same, could be lash, play in diff or trasfer box. easy off and u get a jerkl through car, could b as u ease of accelerator, power eases so takes strain of gears and the jerk is the play between gear being meshed one way to the other, if that makes sense.

Think it starts before it hits boost, just when ever he floors it, might have to go for another drive in it to get a better idea of when it starts an all that.

pull them out mate, undo the bolt that holds it in place then pull out, be carful and makesure you pull it out straight utherwise you may do damage yourself that wasnt already there.

once out just check over it, look for splits/cracks or even bits broken off.

there are 4 coil packs 2 on each side of the engine block
