cuts out!
evening.
as you may know my speedo hasnt been working gor a few weeks, still not got round to getting it sorted.
my engine check light hgas now come on aswell.
this weekend i was out in it and i was racing with a tvr round a roundabout and up a straight.
i dropped to second,floored it,it cut out,changed to third,same thing happened.
slowed right down.
stopped.
1st gear rev round to 4200 cuts out, into 2nd gear upto 4200 revs same, all the way up to 4th gear then i ran out of road.
is this linked to my speedo not working that it is messing up the electronic brain??

been told today that it might be the nylon bit in my gear box that has worn away
and that it could set me back £600
i was going to get it re mapped 2moz if it had been the sensor or the wire.
all depends if it is the nylon part in my gear box or not,i hope not

Not sure if this applies to late model imprezas but there is a seperate sensor on the gearbox of my 93wrx which if not working lights the CEL.
See if you can get another speedo head as that my be causing the problem.
It will be a lot cheaper then taking the gearbox apart you may be unlucky though and it may require the gearbox taking apart.

just dont know what downpipe with high flow cat to get,ive bin quoted £450 for one and with gaskets and labour comes in at £633,then ild need to spend £100 on a map again so thats £733 that seams alot?
was also quote for just a downpipe with gaskets and labour that would come in at £309 then £100 for another map.
thats a nicer price but then got all the hastle of changing the downpipe over when going for an mot.
hmm so i dont know what to do
a point in the right direction would be good

JollyGreenMonster.co.uk if you fancy doing it yourself.
Not too sure on later classic shaped imprezas but i understood that 1 cat could be removed completely (as you have 1 in the downpipe and 1 in the centre section).

is it worth taking the centre cat out aswell and just replacing with a straight through?
or is that illegal and would have to be changed every time i put it in for an mot?
so for maximum gain i am assuming that change the decat the down pipe and also decat the centre sectiopn, then get it mapped again?
