Default Does the 03 wrx PPP really have 265/348?

Hi all,

Does the wrx PPP from 03 onwards really have 265bhp and 348 torque? Seems alot from a backbox, intercooler hose and the ecu?

Thanks,

James.

Not in my experience ! not even close when road tested, rolling roads might be more flattering.

Certainly is, any ideas what that is in the usual measurment?

Just wondering if it really makes as much difference to power/torque as the brochure says?

Waste of money on your 2004 car mate, I bought it for my 53WRX and was to date my most expensive and most regretable purchase. Yes it made the car slightly more torquey and sounded better but all in all a waste of money.

Get the parts and a professional remap and it will be both cheaper and better. PPP has its place but not on a 2004 car IMHO. I ended up remapping the WRX anyway after the PPP and have since remapped my current MY06 STi Spec D and 1995 Classic.

Most people quote Torque in Ft Lbs, although that figure even in ft lbs would be well below my current STi

FWIW even with a sports cat the 53WRX could only claim a conservative 273 BHP / 374Nm so I think the PPP figure is very very very much peak of all peakness in power.

There are alternatives for the same money but with better output. I'm not sure if the PPP warranty still holds fast now your car is out of the main IM warranty.
I had PPP on my old 03 wagon. It was perfectly acceptable and warranty safe for a couple of years. Output was book figures when tested on the PE rolling road and using delta dash.

Cool, it wasn't the fact that i am contemplating spending £1500 quid on it, its just that i already have the back box and i reckon i can get the ecu and intercooler pipe cheapish on ebay thats all.

Wondering whether the extra power / torque is worth about £300!

Thanks all.

£300 - yes. If you go the bespoke route of ecutec remap and exhaust change it will cost you about £800 but you will gain another 20 or so bhp over the PPP

Brill, thanks for that, thats what i wanted to hear! lol!

One final question (promise!) - with the PPP, will the acceleration/speed/power/torque etc be comparable to a standard STI without PPP? Or is the STI turbo/intercooler etc much better?

Thanks again! James.

Don't forget to add the short decat section as well. They are about £50-£75.

The WRX PPP was comparable (& a bit faster to 60) to the std STi due to extra gear changes and added weight.

is that the cat just after the downpipe and just before the resonator in the centre section?

Brill, gives me a good idea of the level of acceleration as my mates standard sti leaves me ever so slightly at the moment
