Hi,

took my car to the local garage as there was a rattle which I thought was the exhaust. Mechanic said it was the heat sheild & said the car didn't need it so he was going to cut the sheild off.

Has anyone else had the heat sheil removed & will cutting it off damage the car?

 

Which heat shield exactly.

If it is the one that surrounds the turbo then it should not be removed as the heat generated will cook the clutch fluid and create too much heat under the bonnet.

 

Hi, sorry should have mentioned the car is a sport, the mechanic didn't say which sheild it was, just that the car didn't need it. cheers
