Default Engine Block

Need a bit of info guys.

A friend of mine has a MY99 uk2000 turbo which apparently requires a new block for the engine.

What we'd like to know is wot other models of imprezas can we use a block from that we could fit his head onto without any mods or problems?

Any Version 5,6,7 block will do - the later EJ207 blocks are twin breather but all you normally do is to blank the center breather off.
Unless your original block is damaged/badly overheated, then a rebore with oversize pistons and rings is the normal route to go down.
Might be worth contacting David @ API Engines for some friendly advise on what to do.
