Default Exhaust heat wrap???

Gonna get my de-cat down pipe next week and have heard that its a good idea to heat wrap it. What difference does this make and is it worth it?

The standard downpipe has got a heatshiel to keep engine bay temps down, and the exhaust gases nice and hot.
So wrap is like the aftermarket equivelant.

As above.

Just wrapped my decat d/p, H+S for classic car.
I bought 24 ft of 2" and it did about 3/4 of the d/p. I actually thought that it was going to be more than enough.
