Default Walbro fitting

I fitted a Walbro the other day and it's got me thinking

The instructions advised that on some models the wiring should be cut and re joined with connectors which I did.

I then refitted the pump and the car runs and starts fine.

I am no scientist, but with the electrical connectors being submerged in a tank of high octane fuel. !!!........................

Someone put my mind at rest.

You should use heatshrink to cover any joins, I'm not sure if insulating tape would be adequate over time.
Do they not mention that in the instructions?
