Gary, VAG must mean something to you? I'd try some Krytox on the seals from VW they use it on the EOS roof.

Open the door.. close the window with the door open and see if it improves.. Works on mine.. so every now and then when its raining i will open my passenger and drivers fdoor, drop the windows, and put the windows back up.. Noise gone unti I open windows again!

my 97 classic is the same mate. I read somewhere that you can fit little black blocks??? which force the window against the seal when closed but haven't managed ot get much more info than that.

Anyone shed some light?

Yes mate they are little black block that sit on the outer door seal and poke out a little, IMHO i don't think they'd solve wind noise as they are quite far away from the actual glass.

Try the open door close window thing it really does work, also make sure your passenger air vents are fully open if its wind coming into the car via the ventilation.
