air locks???

Question air locks???

how commen is it to get air locks in the cooling system on classics.... im not getting circulation and engine is overheating. changed the rad the other day and its got worse. only had the head gasket done 6 months ago.
any help would be great.

have the thermostat and pump been checked? Take the stat out and stick it in boiling water to see if it opens. If it does then refill with water without the stat in and then see if you have circulation. If you dont its likely the pump impellers are damaged.

If the stat doesnt open then replace it

ok mate cheers. im hoping that its something like that and not the head gasket again or its big money time again!

can i get the thermostat out myself or is it a pain in the ****?? im not at home im away with work so no garage tools.

you can but you will need some tools. Its pretty easy. its located at the bottom of the cam cover on the nearside under an aliminium housing. You'll find the rubber radiator hose connected to the housing. I believe it has two 10mm bolts(maybe three).
