Another noise thread....under the intercooler
Noticed it today, it is engine speed related, and more noticeable when the engines warm.
I'm getting a scraping/cricket noise from under the intercooler/near the turbo. I guess it could be the turbo on the way out? 105000miles now! Doesnt sound like the big ends, not deep enough into the engine, not piston slap.
Checked:
- Greased the belts, definitely not them bouncing the sound round.
- Not the interior heater.
- Gets louder when hot.
- Got plenty of oil.
- Need to check the water level, but its not running hot.
Videos:
Engine cold (barely hear it in the background):

Engine warm:

To check:
Water level
Gearbox oil level
Pipes to/from turbo

Just for completeness incase anyone else gets this...the nice chaps at RCM think its either:
Clutch release bearing or spigott bearing (think thats spelt right).
Sorry didnt get to see you David@API..I was a bit to eager to get a diagnosis!
