Default turbo problem

last week i had my turbo off when my engine was out and still is out i checked for any play in the bearings i noticed that spool was not free spining and had a little bit of resistance is this correct or should it be totaly free spinning the model is a tdo5 if this is broke would it be advisable to get it rconed or upgrade,col

The blades should spin very easily. Any resistance is not a good thing. there will be a little, of course. a good test is to give it a spin by your fingers, it should carry on spinning for 2/3 rotations. If its stops quickly it needs sorting.

Sometimes cheaper to by a decent 2nd hand one from an honest seller rather than to recondition it by a well known turbo expert. They will do a good job that is guaranteed, but will normally charge the earth.
