You're correct. Though not all fully synthetic oils are the same... some are made from mineral basestock and others are tri ester and "completely" synthetic.

 

Also you dont nessecerly need fully synthetic, if the car requires part synthetic, then that is fine to use.

commonly used are Motul 300V (double ester based synthetic) and Millers CFS (triple ester based synthetic), both pukka race quality synthetics and about the best you can buy, there are others but generally find they are poorer quality than the 2x mentioned..............
