Default urgent help needed please help!

hey i have a impreza turbo 2000 1997 classic
im ahving a problem with my crank pulley.
it got a bit of play in it.
as in when the car is started the puley shudnt move back and forwards.only in the clockwise or anticlockwise (what ever way it goes). but i'm having the pulley moving a bit.

About a year ago or mayb more the pulley broke off and i replaced it but the key that goes through the crank shaft, gearbox.
the key tip which goes near the pulley was a bit damaged as the pulley rubbed against the tip of the key, so im finkin it might be somthing to do with that????

im a bit lost and worried so i would like to no what could i do?
please pm me or rpely back to me im new to a impreza my first one.

What can i do???replace the pulley, or the key or do i have to do somthing even more bigger???

depends on exactly what the damage is, it may well have worn the key or the keyway in the pulley allowing it to come undone - it may simply need torquing up again correctly as they do need to be extremely tight!!
can't recall exactly but seem to remember around 110lbs/ft

the key doesnt secure the pulley in anyway, it simply aligns the pulley to the crank, the bolt is what secures it.
later scoobs had larger rubber dampers and i have seen them split apart causing the pulley to woble all over the place and in one case it destroyed the timing cover!

the best thing to do is take off the 2 auxilery belts so you have a clear view. give the pulley a gentle lever and see if theres any play, also check the bolt for tightness, its a 22mm hex.

Have you tried taking the pulley off and checking the two mating surfaces are straight and clean and nothing is trapped behind, like another piece of broken woodruff key? This happened to me recently. Also a bit a threadlock would prevent the pulley bolt coming undone again.
