Hi,

I'm taking my car to Germany in a few weeks and don't really know where to begin as far as making it roadworthy.

I'm sure I need a few stickers at least! My dealer is proving useless and are trying to screw me for a headlamp conversion! Please tell me that's not necessary. Anybody? Please!?!?

Thx

Scooby-Dude

I wouldn't be preoccupied if were in you. If you're going to be required to change the plate it will be after usually 1year of residence. Before that time don't worry.

I went over to germany last year. I got one of those european driving kit things from halfords, and a magnetic GB sticker for the back of the car.

no problems at all.

as Dave says, check RAC and AA sites, they have all the details.

oh, allegedly french police don't like radar dectors so make sure if you have one or a geodsy, that you hide it/remove it. just in case

Cool

Thanks guys,

Off to Halfords I go!

Just shows you what @holes some dealers can be; they have gladly stung me for a headlamp conversion.

So the lights are OK then?

Agree - Halfords will have literally everything you need, from the GB sticker to the stick-on headlight converters (c. £6 - how much did the dealers charge you?).

Obvious point, but let your insurance company know or make sure that you are covered driving in Europe on your policy ... shouldn't be a problem at no cost.

I drive down to Croatia each summer (through Germany) and I love it, in the Scoob it is a fantastic drive - enjoy!!

Phil
