Spun Cylinder Liner in CDB - ???
Having taken a CDB apart to use as the basis for a good solid 2.0 build, I've found that the #3 liner has 'spun' - it has rotated slightly, enough that the access holes in the side of the liner and in the crankcase itself only half line up. I.e. if you look into the #3 access hole you see the crescent shape of the back of the liner which is obscuring things.
Now AFAIK this is the first time the block has been apart, and being a CDB I'm wondering exactly how a liner can rotate like this? Is it something that could have happened in manufacturing? Or something that's happened since?
Most importantly, does it actually matter, apart from the difficulties getting access to the gudgeon pins?

This is not uncommon.
I wouldn't use it to build an engine, and it's not worth re-linering, as it will cost more than replacing it. Just replace the block with a good one.
Mark.

Mark - how does this kind of thing actually happen - it's the way it's rotated without seemingly disturbing the main bearing cradle or deck in any obvious way that's got me puzzled?
