Default McGard locking wheel nut question

Are they supposed to stick out this much? :



Seems a bit too much. The model number is 24152. there is another available for Subaru. But they didn't look that much different if I recall.

I dont like it. I got rid off my lightweight wheels nuts because they were like the "stunt pegs" I used to have on my BMX as a kid.
Are yours the same?
