ss braided hose - hose clips over braiding?

When using hose clips to fasten a stainless steel braided hose, do I take the brading off so that the hose clip clips around the rubber part only, or do I keep the braiding in place and clip the hose clip around the hose and braiding?

Put hose clip over SS braiding as well as the hose
