Hi guys, i changed the plugs on sunday, there is a big difference it doesnt judder like it did before, but there are still a few problems. i have listed them below.

1. on tick over it miss-fires slightly
2. when i pull away its a bit lumpy and drops off a little
3. when i start the car it can be a bit difficult ( take 4-5 sec)
4. when changing gear it sometimes holds the revs quite high
5. there does seem to be a lack off power

if your car has coil packs on top of the plugs did you check them for cracks as even the smallest crack can cause problems

You definitely need to take the rubber bits off, the ends of the coil packs can be cracked to bits under there. When I bought my '96 STI it had a slight misfire; bits actually fell off a couple of the coil packs when I took the rubber boots off them.

If you buy s/h coil packs, get the seller to remove the rubbers and inspect them for you - I made the mistake of buying a set described as OK, only to find that they were cracked under the rubbers too, and I had to embarrass the seller by asking for a refund.

With a good set of coil packs the misfire was cured completely.
