Brake caliper refurb
Anyone refurbed their own calipers ?
I have just bought some four pots from off a STi 6. Im going to refurb them before fitting to fend off any future problems.
Has anyone refurbed theirs (full pistons out new seals/pistons not just a scrub and paint !) ?
A search on this and the brakes forum seems to be blank.
Cheers

Yep I did it and I'm no mechanic, that's for sure. Although I am now tackling an engine rebuild...
Anyway, if they're off the car, that's half the battle. It was basically just a case of splitting the caliper halves and replacing bits as necessary. Basic workshop tools like a socket set and a bloody great long wrench will crack those bolts loose. I got a rebuild kit from Subaru for under £20 which included the seals and stuff needed. Doesn't include new pistons though, which are fairly pricey for what they are.
