No brakes need help
Hi guys, recently bought a 95 wrx which has been sat for a couple of years and first thing i noticed was the complete lack of brakes. I have replaced the fluid, cleaned up pads and calipers and bled them but there is still nearly no brakes at all. The servo seems to be working, as with ignition off i can pump the pedal to get it feeling firm and then start the car , the pedal drops. I can push the pedal all the way to the floor and the car will just about stop from a few mph but any faster and there is no chance. Any suggestions of what i can try next? They are the 2 pot front and single rear btw
Thanks ..Lee

Seized pistons or trapped air..?
Undo the caliper and see how far they are coming out when you press the brake.
You sure you got all the air out when you blead them?
Also check behind the boots on the slide pins for corrosion and dress, grease if needed..

Sounds like the bleed has not been successfull if you can push the pedal so far down. Seized calipers tend to sit right on the discs giving loads of heat and bind giving the opposite effect from your symptoms. Try a pressure bleed kit to see if it shifts any trapped air. The subaru brake reservoir wont take the standard caps in the kits but a ring round the breakers will get a spare reservoir cap then drill the right size hole in the capfor the kit.
Hope you can sort it.

thanks for the replies. It does sound like i need a pressure bleed. i have had the calipers apart and greased the sliders, pistons etc. They were corroded but seemed fine when i reinstalled them. Lets hope i can sort a pressure bleed out
