Default How much to change a crankshaft oil seal?

How many hours would I be looking at for a mechanic to change my crankshaft oil seal?

I've looked on here and it looks as though you've got to take the cambelt off to do it.

My mechanic also said there is oil coming out of the cambelt cover? I have seen oil around here, didn't realise there would be oil around this area.

How much is a cambelt for a 93 wrx? As it's probably saturated in oil at the moment, which isn't meant to do it any favours, I don't think.

If you do it yourself i would budget on a ballpark £120ish for the parts to do it all.

I had mine done on my MY99 at a local Jap specialist. I bought the belt £60 (Gates) and I purchased the crank seal from Subaru, they posted it to me, saved petrol! If I remember rightly the crank seal was about £8? I know its a pain having to do the cam belt, but, if its got oil on it, it really does need to be replaced. I paid a total of £110 labour to have all this done and that included new anti freeze as the radiator was removed to replace the cam belt. You don't have to remove it but it gives you a bit more room. Hope this helps.

£110 to replace a cambelt seems very good. Hope i've gone to the same mechanic as you did!

I'm in Kent mate. I've already got it at a decent mechanics, he built a 12 sec mr2 and he's a pretty reasonable £30 an hour.
