Question hi there can anyone help?

Hi there Got a few car probs don't know if Major. Just found out today that my header tank leaks intermittenly (with engine hot) and steam appears near front wheelarch is there a pressure cap or valve somewhere? I be ever so greatful if any of u lot can help from Giles (gmantaunton) message me here or gilesijwilson@googlemail.com thanks.

The pressure cap in on the header tank. You probably just need a new cap.

The plastic header tanks are prone to leaking around the seal, but before changing that try bending the tabs on the cap in a bit to tighten the fit. Happened to mine, thought it was the tank at first but turned out to be the cap was a bit loose.

Possible head gasket issue as well of course! If the gasket fails, it's more likely to push water out under pressure than suffer any kind of oil/water mixing. WRX's with composite gaskets are more prone. Also take a look at the radiator, as they are inclined to crack the plastic tanks on the sides.
