Default tunning

hi 1 of my belts cam off my 1996 wrx i managed 2 get it back on, but i think i have nocked the timing out, any1 no how 2 reset timmimng with running it, as , makes a well nocking noise if i start it, cheers guys kev

if i understand correctly what you have said the knocking noise would be pistons hitting you valves

If its one of the front belts that has come off you need to find out why, exessive play in the crank can cause this which is pretty serious. Check the timing belt hasn't slipped a tooth or two.

If it is one of the front belts, DO NOT start it and get it to a garage that can sort out the timing for you, you risk doing mucho damage to the engine if you run it, could end up needing pistons and valves, and maybe a conrod or 2!!
In all seriousness though, get it to a garage by towing or trailer, dont be tempted to run it.
