Default rad fan on constant???

hi there im hoping someone can help me.
i have an impreza turbo 2000 on 95. as soon as i turn the ign key to the acc position the fan starts. and stays on untill ignition turned off.
ive replaced the fan switch and also checked the wires etc but to no joy, so please any help would be greatly appriciated.

does cel come on? i had same prob on my legacy turned out to be a water senser

no it doesnt, ive also unplugged the sensor thinking that it might turn it off, but it didnt.

Is the A/C on? That used to trigger the fans in my last few cars.

Hiya mate this is a common fault on the impreza's, It will be your coolent sensor, I've got one here 10quid posted and that will solve your problem

ill have that senser if thats what you think it is. well ive replaced the other sensor, checked wires and relays etc. the switch that you have is it the 1 wire temp sender?

If the sensor's knackered it won't make any difference if you unplug it. Replace the sensor.

Better that your fan is on all the time than worst case not working at all.

You need the sensor for the brown connector. The single connector one is just for the gauge and the ECU doesn't read that one.

However I'd have thought that the car would have trouble cold starting if it thought it was hot all the time..

coolant temp sensor everytime, replace that and your woes will be removed.
