im about to decat my car and im wondering if the cel light comes on will this affect how the car drives?

 

what car is it mate,ive just decatted my 2001 bugeye with no cel light issues. also there is a fear of over boost now so im getting a remap to make sure all is safe and to see the maximum benefit

 

its a 54 plate impreza wrx blob eye, im getting my remapped but it will be next month. where you getting yours remapped?

The cel comes on because the (late) cat isn't working as Subaru designed....

I ignored mine for over a year....

Later cars like yours CAN suffer with boost spikes, so just take it reasonably sensibly for now, i.e. no top speed runs or flat-out acceleration !

i think the cel code is p0420 catalyst below efficiency,as said normal when decatted as rear lambda sensor is picking up higher than expected emissions.

if you are having a remap the mapper will adjust the lambda sensor settings so light does not come on.
