Default immobiliser key pairing with ecu - how

Does anyone know how or whether dealers do this when you buy a new ecu ?

My ecu is fried and need to get a new ecu from the dealer network but will obviously need it paired with my immobiliser. Or do Subaru program it for you when you order as per chassis number ?

As far as I was aware the key isnot paired to the main ECU. There is a separate code box and reciever. Otherwise all these people swapping ECU's would have problems.
It might depend on MY, but my information is based on classics.

yep

because the laptop went walkies thanks to some theiving scum and had to use the ma to do it, it fried it during flashing and couldnt be ressurected.

Got a spare ecu now (thanks to Budgie) and going to see if it has been ecuteked and take it from there

Taken from my cat 1 manual for my bugeye:

Teaching New Remote Keys to the system
When programming one or more remote keys into the system, ALL previous remote keys will be erased.

With the ignition switched off and the system disarmed, type into the keypad:

**AAAA *91 *N #

Where AAAA is your 4 digit PIN for the immobiliser (if you don't know this, the dealer can general get it for you assuming the last owner didn't change it), and N is the number of remote keys you're programming.

So for example, if the PIN was 1234 and you were programming two keys:
**1234 *91 *2 #

You have 10 seconds to enter each character.
To confirm input of your PIN the siren will bleep after the last digit is entered.

Then immediately give the button on the first remote key a quick press; the siren will bleep, now press the second one and the siren will bleep again - repeat ad infinitum for however many keys you have.
Then finally wait for 10 seconds after pressing the final remote key.

Then test all remote keys now arm and disarm the system.

Hope that sorts you out mate

Nope didnt work - the keys already arm & disarm the system, just dont allow the new ecu to start the engine.

hmm

I think this would have to be done at a dealer, as it would be an integral part of the car security.

Ah, sorry - misunderstood the issue. Best of luck getting it sorted - sounds like it will be a dealer job then....

Duncan - Its a dealer or an ecutek mapper who can do this.
Possibly also Subaru Assist, though you may have to convince the guy who comes out that your car is std for any warranty claim )

I think that the ECU I have is likely to be a 5 plug blobeye STi - I'll be having words with MOTEC about that and see if they have the correct one.

Its ALIVE !!!!!!

Thank you so much Simon. Really great to meet you and I am sorry for taking up so much of your time but thanks for such a professional job and not only syncing the ecu with the immobiliser but also doing the mapping which neither of us were expecting to happen but I am very grateful it did - even if it did have a few hiccups with the actuator clip coming off

Thank you once again.

The car seems spot on for the weekend - 1.7 bar will be plenty enough in the snow

bloody hell duncan, you lead a somewhat mixed charmed and dammed life just recently.

You lose a laptop to some thieving scumbag

You get offers of loan laptops etc

You fry your ECU

You get a loan one

You cant start the car

JGM just happens to be in the area on the day you need him

Listen, do us all a favour and either stay inside for the rest of the week or go and find half a dozen black cats
