Default Boost control issues/ Boost cut

Hi guys, got a problem im hoping someone can help with.

I know that there is a very simular post been made recently with boost cut issue, but my symptoms are different, hence the new post.

95 STI, standard exept exhaust and BOV.

Seems to be hitting boost cut in the lower gears, first is worse, car will pull great in 3rd and above. Definatly feels like boost cut, very violent almost like a rev limit, so im leaning away from the usual spark plug gap issues people seem to get that can cause missfires.

Boost gauge installed, during a 4th gear pull car pulls smoothly to redline without fault. I have noticed that the boost seems low at 11psi, and when full boost is reached the gauge 'flutters' around the 10-12psi mark??!! during a 1st or second gear pull the boost is at the same level before the cut.

I have done the basic MAF test by disconnecting whilst idling, and the car cuts out as it should, there is no signs of power surging on mid or full throttle. Coil packs have also been changed recently to cure a missfire, which they did.

Im thinking there is something wrong with the boost control system, either the boost control solenoid or maybe actuator, but im unsure if these would cause a boost cut, especially at this boost level? Does the boost control solenoid initiate a cut?

Any help appriciated.

Thanks

Craig

Unusual to happen that way round. Boost (Fuel) cut normally happens in the higher gears where engine load is greatest for a longer period.

^^^agree as there is little load on the engine.

Could be fuel surge under rapid acceleration, how much fuel did you have in the tank?
