Tapping sound when cold
I have a MY55 WRX.
I have noticed lately that when cold there is a tappety sound from the engine which disappears as the car warms up and after 10 miles goes away.
Anyone have anything similar and is it anything to be worried about.
Out of Warranty in a couple of months

sounds like piston slap due to the cold weather. nothing to worry about. just let her warm up before hitting the noise pedal. if really concerned drop her into subaru to comfirm. peace of mind and all that. HTH

how loud is it? when i first got my car it had 15w 50 oil in it, and that made a hell of a racket when cold, and i dont know if it went away cos i didnt run it long enough, i just flushed the oil and put 5w 30 in it and it went away very soon after!
