Default Cold air intake/induction kit Q?

Does anyone know if you can fit one of these without having a re-map?

And might it cause any problems?

And what do they sound like?

Thanks in advance.

I had one with no remap , but a friend had to remap because of leaner AFR.IF u are using a big maf , then definitely need to scale the maf. I never had any problems , actually hear the turbo spooling .

Thanks Dr B.
Which one did you have?
I'm thinking of getting one, but not sure which one to get cos there seems to be quite a few on the market.

actally a cheap alternative is the BOMZ brand on ebay , cost is 40US , i used this and changed the filter it came with to a K&N typhoon cone filter. The construction of the pipe and the hose clamps were quite good with BOMZ brand ,I made 320bhp with this CAI .

i had one on mine ,changed turbo(vf35) and a few other parts and had a remap and it was sucking to much air in but on the old turbo (td04)it was fine so you got to be careful if your thinking of remapping then get one they sound sweet when you spool up but if not would just get a green cotton filter to go in your airbox there just as good as in they dont slow you down

Need a remap.

If they dont need a remap, there is no point in fitting them IMO as you have gained nothing.
