hi all i have a 2002 sti which is my 1st subaru.theres a loud ticking coming from under the bonnet drivers side i think and when i rev harder it gets louder and faster?????is this something to be worried about as still warrentied as only got it a week ago.THANKS .Andy

 

i would think its the injectors opening - entirely normal

 

Is it a light noise or heavy?...... by that i mean the tone of it,might well be the injectors as mentioned,but you say its only from one side?

 

sounds like its from only 1 side but its a constant tick tick tick.almost sounds like tappets sounds like a light noise

 

TOOK car to garage today and all it was was a knackered spark plug which was arking and they were crap plugs too.fitted some lovely new decent plugs and now runs lovely!!!!!!!!so iam now looking forward to happy driving from my first scooby.Andy

 

This is interesting.
Noticed smth similar on my car. there was always some ticking but it got much louder. I thought it is becuase a few weeks ago I got a remap, but now I start thinking again...
I also noticed at cold start it starts difficultly, it starts but the rev is v low for like 5-10 sec, like it wants to stop, then it picks up revs to 1.5k, as usual.
However, I didn't notice any difference in driving. Andy, did you also have smth similar with the startup ?
