Default Snapped top off crank shaft sensor. How to get it out ?

I have managed to snap the top plastic part of the crank shaft sensor whilst trying to take it out. The main metal part of it is stuck in the hole. Any ideas why it didn't just pull out? and any ideas how I can get the rest of it out?
Like a t*** I previously posted this problem as a broken cam sensor, thanks Redbelly for recognising it. Any bright ideas for this one, I'm a bit worried digging it all out will deposit bits into crank, which I guess would not be great for the engine?

If its stuck I guess the best way would be to push it out from underneath.

You need to remove the crank pulley and cambelt covers, to get at the other side. Maybe even the cam belt too.

However, if you haven't got acess to a 2ft long breaker bar - you'll have no chance getting the crank pulley off without one.

Anyone else got any ideas ? When the plastic top part of the sensor is broken off there is a central bit that is metal, then a thin bit of plastic before the outer ring of metal. I have managed to screw a couple of small screws into the plastic but when you pull on them it won't budge !

Default Sorted, Thanks BarretsCanterbury

Managed to get into the body of the sensor and a load of metal stringy stuff (technical term) came out, this made it quite easy to push in the thin outer caseing and pull it out with pair of plyers. Fitted S/H one and it seems to be running fine, hasn't failed to start yet (fingers crossed). Thanks Phil from BarretsCanterbury saved me loads of time, effort and money.
