Clutch slip and synchro problems
First time i've posted and not very technical description so bare with me...
When i am cruising in any gear other than 1st, and sometimes 2nd, if i press the accelerator more so, the rev counter shoots up to often over 4'000 rpm and more, then settles back down to about 3'000rpm and allows me to accelerate properly without a problem.
Im also need to replace the synchro for 4th and 5th gears as told by my subaru dealer.
Any ideas on what the problem may be, and why it is doing this?????

what car you driving ? 5 or 6 speed?
Recently I did a overhaul for Rob Roy and he had munched 3rd 4th 5th and 6th Syncros.
Other problem sounds like clutch slip to me, then again when the box is out for the syncro repair the clutch is easy to do !
Where are you in the country?

its a 5 speed my03
the synchros are defo gone, but it was over £700 to have them sorted(that included labour etc).
im near stoke-on-trent area. i could do with gettin the whole lot done in one go.
it basically feels like pulling away in first gear with the clutch down, when the tachometer sits at a certain line and then drops back when you depress the clutch
