As in removed or as in broken up and blocking the exhaust?
The first may result in overboost, the second will just bung up gas flow and make the car feel very sluggish.

If it has just stopped working (ie due to poisoning by lead etc) then I can't see any difference apart from failing your next MOT.

if it has collapsed and blocked the exhaust so gasses cannot escape quick enough then it will cause excess back pressure on turbo and restrict the boost.

well i'm getting overboost and i think the cat has collapsed can see tiny bits of metal caught in the back box would this explain it you think?????
