Removal of dump valve on a classic
Hi all. Im looking to get rid of my vta dump valve on my uk00 classic. Can someone help/point me in the right direction please. I.e maybe a diagram, foolproof preferbly, lol. Im going to have no dump valve on as i quite like the noise it makes. Have been told it doesnt hurt the turbo/engine etc.

Hi
If you remove the dump valve you will slow down the spool up time of your turbo this will increase lag(make it slower ) , also it will increase the wear rate on the turbo bearings and will make it run at a higher tempreture due to the increase of back pressure. If I were you I would return it to reci valve or buy a spare turbo and change the oil more regularly .
I know it sounds cool but the back pressure ( chatter) noise is not good for the engine
Regards Matt

Not according to some of the mappers/engine tuners on here. A few people have removed them with no issues. Seem's the TD05's etc are more than happy to run with no DV.

I hear what your saying roofman and Im only stating simple physics , that said the diff is fairly minor on lower boost settings it gets more prononced the higher spec you run. Depends what you want i guess.
but No Manafacturers , Pro tuners or Race teams that I know of run a non dump valve system!!. unless you have anti lag !!
Anyway run what makes you happy its your right and your money

no issues on mine
how can the back pressure be bad for the engine, i can understand about possibly damaging turbo bearings, but the motor???
World Rally Cars do not run dump valves, so in your statement Prodrive do not count as a race team?

I stand corrected and Ill shut up
Matt
Ps I classed the turbo as part of the motor . Your right of course the motor wont be harmed by back pressure
